DERBY LITE: BEGINNER & INTERMEDIATE CLASSES
Weekly workouts include dynamic stretching, free skate time, learn-to-skate basic skills lessons, high intensity skating drills, upper body exercise and cool-down stretching. In order to participate safely, you should be able to engage in a mid-intensity cardio drill for 20 minutes without stopping, and be able to fall down and get up on your own (we teach you how to fall properly).
We practice skills and drills related to competitive roller derby, however, Derby Lite does it without the impact of derby regular (think of it like flag football or no-check hockey). Ladies build strength, endurance, balance, agility, and flexibility while learning a new skill. Derby Lite is also a great way to build confidence, make friends and reduce stress.
Ladies can choose beginner or intermediate level classes. Beginner is for women who need to learn to skate or would like to continue brushing up on the basics. Intermediate is for ladies who’ve participated in one or more sessions of Derby Lite or derby regular and are ready for higher conditioning, faster speeds, more intense drills & derby-related skills without the pressure of scrimmaging.
CLINICS & COMMUNITY PROGRAMS
Co-op Clinics are the way to improve your skills in specific areas like speed, agility, jumping and stability. Most clinics are open to all skaters, male and female, from all Chicagoland leagues. Shop our clinics here.
